States with Wildfires, Top 8 MBAs, Footwear Manufacturers, London 'Hoods
Those that have been playing for a while know that I am based in Austin. An interesting aspect of the trade war hit home yesterday - Austin had a direct flight to Vancouver cancelled. The cancellation is due to a "downward shift in demand" for travel between the U.S. and Canada.
Port volume has been the internet rounds with viral videos of Seattle’s port stating there are no international ships. That seems to be partially misleading - volumes have actually held up fairly well - up 7.3% over the last 30 days per the Northwest Seaport Alliance. But forecasted volumes are looking grim, per the commissioner of the Alliance - “The last forecast I saw was forecasting out over the next three months, and each month was forecasted to be down around 25% per month.”
Katie from Delco D’ohs has been playing Uncovered Shorts for a while and had one of her strongest days with a 388 yesterday, good for 6th overall. EFM from Hybrid Financial scored a 380 and coming in 18th overall. Emmett from the Davilla leaderboard came in 30th with a 376. David from TriLife and Derek from the Palm Beach crew had matching 366s to lead their groups. ESH led the Rothman Boys with a 364. ASH topped Alpha Theory with a 363, and BAR was the top player on MWAM with a 362.
Top 10 State with the most acres burned by wildfires - If you picked a large state, you probably got this right. Alaska, Texas, Montana, Oregon (the most popular answer), Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, and Idaho were all correct. The two states that were the highest-scoring are kind of random - Nebraska and Oklahoma. Colorado and Nevada were the two incorrect states that lots of players chose.
Top 8 MBA program - Sorry to the UM Ross players and any player that guessed it, UM Ross is #13. Columbia was #9 and also caught a bunch of people. Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business was the best answer, scoring high 90s. Stanford, NYU (Stern), and MIT (Sloan) also scored well. Wharton and the University of Chicago (Booth) were the most popular answers. Northwestern (Kellogg) and Harvard Business School rounded out the 8 correct answers.
Largest footwear manufacturer after China and India - Vietnam was the best and by far the most popular answer. Vietnam produces around 1 billion pairs of shoes annually. Indonesia is the #4 footwear producer, with over 800 million pairs of shoes produced annually.
London borough with the highest median income - First, apologies to some people who played early and got some improper zeroes. We had a little glitch with this question yesterday, but caught it pretty early. Kensington & Chelsea was the best answer with a median income around GBP 49,000. Westminster was the #2 answer.
